Some markets rent you a table. We hand you a crowd and a community that’s already yours. The Original started it all back in 1979 and four decades on it’s still the one people drive across the coast to find. This isn’t a spot to fill, it’s a place to build something, in front of people who came looking for exactly what you make. Here’s what you get when you set up with us:
You can build a following online and you should, but this is something else. Over 1.2 million people a year come to Eumundi already looking for the handmade, the home grown and the one-off, phones down and ready to buy, right in front of you. No algorithm, no ad spend, no shipping. Just the right people walking past your stall twice a week, rain, hail or shine.
This is face to face, in a market that has always run on community. Everyone trading here is the originator of the thing they are selling, so the talk across the aisle is glazes, growing seasons and where to find the good stuff. Your customers meet you, not a checkout. Ask anyone why they stay and they’ll point at the stallholders either side of them.
Think of it as an incubator with a crowd built in. Start with a casual day you pick yourself, come once a week or twice, then take a permanent site with your name on it. Test an idea, grow it, back yourself. Some people run this as the whole business, others build it around a job, a family, a paddock. All of it works and all of it is welcome here.
Over four decades in and people name the market before they name the town. Trading at the Original Eumundi Markets says something about your work before you’ve said a word and it keeps saying it long after your customer has driven home.
One idea has held this market together since 1979, the person selling it is the person who created it.
That is broader than it sounds. It is not a test of how many hours you spent at the bench. It is about your hand being in it. You designed it, threw it, stitched it, smoked it, blended it, bound it, welded it, or grew it in your own soil. Make it, bake it, sew it, grow it has been our shorthand for that since the beginning and it still is.
If your application isn’t approved, it does not mean there is nowhere for you at Eumundi. Here, originators come first. That is the promise we make to every customer who walks in and it is the reason your work sits in good company.
None of this is about being hard to get into. It is about what someone finds when they walk in, everything originating from the person standing behind it.
We asked our stallholders what their biggest piece of advice would be for the newbies. Here’s what they said about how you can succeed at the markets.
We’re here to support you and your neighbours are the best guide for market life. Be sure to get involved and stay connected.

Calmer, and a little more personal. Wednesdays are the locals doing their weekly round, plus the visitors who’ve worked out that midweek is the relaxed way to see Eumundi. You’ll have the conversation that turns a first time buyer into a regular. It’s the easiest day to get started, with room to find your feet and grow into, and it opens doors too: our Wednesday stallholders are first in line when Saturday sites come up.
The one everybody pictures. The full footprint, live music, and the crowd that made Eumundi famous. It’s big and buzzing from the moment the gates open, the day people build their whole weekend around. If you want volume and energy, this is it and permanent Saturday sites are worth putting your hand up for.
We may not be the lowest cost market but we’re the busiest. For most stallholders a bigger crowd more than makes up the difference and is why they keep coming back.
No commission, no cut of your takings.
What you sell is yours.

Disclaimer: We have caps on categories. This is not personal, it allows our visitors to have a great experience and for everyone to trade properly. If you receive a no for now email in response to your application you will go on a waitlist and be notified when a spot opens in your category, so yes, it’s worth applying!
We have an online booking and payment system that you will have access to so you can handle all your stall admin and book in from the moment you're approved.
Every application is read and scored against the same criteria by someone who knows the market floor. Response to your application is typically within 7 days.
You hear back either way. Yes, not yet, or a no with the reason attached. If you are close, expect a phone call rather than a form letter to clarify a few things.
If approved, it's up to you to pick your first market. Choose your days, book online and all your details will be sent to you before your first market day. We look forward to trading with you!
Eumundi has grown into several markets sharing one town. The Original is the one that started it, back in 1979, and it is the one that has always held to originators: the person selling it is the person who created it. We take our own applications, so apply to us directly.
Apply online, any time of year. Every application is read and scored against the same criteria by someone who knows the market floor. Email admin@eumundimarkets.com.au if you have queries.
Casual rates are $85 for a 3m x 3m site, $170 for a food site and $125 for beverage or confectionery. Same rates Wednesday or Saturday, and no commission on what you sell.
No. Casual stallholders pick their own dates. Permanent sites are for people who want the same spot every market. Plenty of stallholders drive in fortnightly and do very well.
Original is about your hand being in it, not about making every component from scratch. If you design it, build it, blend it, finish it or grow it, that is yours. If it arrived finished and you are reselling it as it came, this is not the market for it.
You go on our promising but not yet list, and we tell you where you sit. Categories are capped so everyone in them can trade properly, and they move more often than you would think.
Within 7 days. A person reads every one.
Yes. Public liability cover needs to be current before your first market and stay current while you trade.
If you are handling or cooking food, yes: Queensland State approval and a current Sunshine Coast Regional Council licence, displayed at your stall. Pre-made products such as sauces and preserves are treated differently.
Wednesday and Saturday, 7.30am to 2pm, every week of the year.
Rain, hail or shine. Always have.
Your marquee, tables, chairs and weights, with at least 20kg holding the marquee down. Compostable or reusable packaging, because we went plastic free and it stuck. Anything electrical needs to be tested and tagged.
The carpark opens at 5.30am. Stalls need to be set up and vehicles off the grounds by 7.15am for a 7.30am start. Pack up from 2pm, vehicles back on at 2.15pm.
That is exactly what casual sites are for. Most stallholders will tell you to give it eight before you judge it, though.
A good number of our newest stallholders came straight from selling online, and Eumundi is their first physical market. More than one has said the face to face changed the business, because customers now come to the market looking for them.
Applications are open for Wednesday and Saturday sites at The Original Eumundi Markets. Take one day or both. We’re actively looking for makers in a few categories, apply and we’ll tell you where there’s room.
